Join us on a botanical adventure in Glen Canyon Park, one of San Francisco’s wildlife gems, to enjoy a beautiful educational hike through the grasslands, coastal scrub, and riparian habitat of Islais Creek. Along the way we’ll explore the native, edible and medicinal plants that grow abundantly among these diverse ecological communities. We’ll discuss basic botany, identification tips, plant families, and other fun tidbits of natural knowledge. We might even catch a hawk’s-eye-view from a high point over the varied species of the canyon!
Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a water bottle. Snacks and notebooks are optional. We will meet at the Glen Park Recreation Center, 70 Elk Street in San Francisco, CA 94131. The park is accessible by public transportation. Spaces are limited for this special class!
